INTERMEDIATE SOLICITOR

Resource Management/Local Government

 

We are looking for an intermediate solicitor to join our Resource Management and Local Government team at our Auckland Office.

Brookfields Lawyers is a longstanding, leading firm with a reputation for encouraging diversity and excellence. We provide a full range of legal services to corporate, public and private clients throughout New Zealand and overseas.

This role reports to five supervising partners in the team and you will have a mix of resource management and local government/public law work. The team is highly experienced and collegial and will support and mentor you.

Our successful candidate will ideally have: 

  • Around 3-6 years post admission experience in a law firm environment, ideally in the areas of environmental, local government and public law
  • excellent academic qualifications and technical skills
  • appeared in Court and taken part in mediations
  • experience working directly with clients (preferred)
  • the ability to build and maintain excellent client relationships
  • pragmatism and the ability to focus on solutions
  • proven ability to work in a team

 

Float Legal Secretary

We are looking for a float legal secretary to join our Float Support Team at our Auckland Office.

This role reports to the Office Manager and forms part of our Support Team.  The team is busy, well organised, approachable and easy to work with.

In this role you will provide secretarial and administrative support to the team, and your duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • diary management
  • coordination and preparation of meetings
  • preparing and filing documentation
  • responding to correspondence
  • dictaphone and copy typing
  • photocopying
  • liaising with clients, staff and the team
  • end of month billing
  • maintaining client files, precedents and research folders
  • opening and archiving files
  • library filing
  • general admin assistance where required, such as relieving our Receptionist, Deeds Administrator, WP Operators, and assistance to the Office Manager

Ideally you will have 5+ years experience in the areas of Property and Litigation (Civil, Commercial as well as Personal Litigation).  You will have an understanding of court procedures and preparation of court documentation.  You will need strong computer and word processing skills, good spelling and grammar and attention to detail. You should have the ability to demonstrate initiative, have excellent organisational skills and operate effectively to meet deadlines.  Your great sense of humour, resilience and a can-do, willing and flexible attitude will be highly valued.
