Liquor Licensing

There cannot be many lawyers who have appeared before the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority and its predecessors, as frequently as John Young and Andrew Green. They work closely with licensees and licensing agents and are known to and respected by the Police and Inspectors. This enables them to negotiate win win outcomes when licensees and managers face cancellation and/or suspension proceedings.

Their experience of resource management and building regulation issues is often called upon when dealing with conflict between licensed premises and neighbouring land uses.

In addition they advise industry groups on territional authority local alcohol policies, the implications of default, national maximum trading hours for licensees, and territional authority themselves on such policies and Liquor Bans.

They also appear in the High Court on appeals and before District Licensing Committees on contested/opposed special licence and temporary authority applications.
